The Ed Solomon Public Service Award

Ed Solomon Public Service Award is presented annually at the Governor's Annual Visit (Division level), from the District Foundation, to honor an individual who has demonstrated outstanding public service, most likely to a politician promoting youth, nominated by a Club. The winner must be a member of a community service organization, but not necessarily a Kiwanis member.

The award was named after the Honorable Ed Solomon, Mayor of Napa, Past Lieutenant Governor of Division 8, WWII bomber crewman, former Superintendent of Schools...a person who epitomized what constituents should EXPECT of elected, or appointed public officials. It is totally funded by the Past District Officers of Division 8 as a gift to the District through the Foundation. It is presented at the Governor's Official Visit to the recipient's home division. The recipient does not have to be a Kiwanian, but there are strict criteria that must be met....without exception.
