In 1980, Governor Kenneth C. Forror, M.D., established a scholarship fund to assist students that are members of Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs (SLP) in the California-Nevada-Hawaii District of Kiwanis. Administered by the Foundation, today this fund continues to provide financial assistance to members of Circle K, Cali-Nev-Ha Key Club and Cal-Nev-Ha KIWIN’S as they pursue their education at a college, university, or trade school.
Another aspect of the Cal-Nev-Ha Children’s Fund’s involvement with our Service Leadership Programs has been in the form of support for leadership training for the Governors, Lt. Governors and appointed Board Members of Circle K, Key Club and KIWIN’S. This support has enabled these talented young people to work with committed Kiwanians to gain the skills to run meetings, organize community service projects and plan fundraising events.
Club and Individual Support
As Kiwanis clubs prepare their annual budgets, the inclusion of $100 for membership in the “Friends of the Foundation” can assist the Cal-Nev-Ha Children’s Fund in increasing the number of scholarships awarded.
Individuals are also encouraged to become “Friends of the Foundation” by contributing $100 annually to the Cal-Nev-Ha Children’ Fund.
When you become a Friend of the Foundation, you…
- provide scholarships to assist students in their quest towards a higher education, helping them become the leaders of tomorrow; and
- provide our SLP officers the leadership techniques and tools to acquire the skills and knowledge they need to run board meetings, organize community service projects, or plan a fundraising activity.
A beautiful plaque is presented with subsequent annual tabs as a reminder of the personal investment you are making in our students. Individuals and clubs may also make a one-time donation of any amount. Any donation to the Scholarship Fund may be designated to a specific SLP organization scholarship fund.
