The Cal-Nev-Ha Children’s Fund offers three distinctive ways your club can recognize Kiwanians and community members for their outstanding service: Distinguished Service Award (DSA); Community Service Award (CSA); and Youth Service Award (YSA).
And when you present one of these awards, you’re also advancing our mission of building a better future for children through grants, scholarships, and the training and development of our Service Leadership Programs members. It’s a win-win!
Service Award recipients receive a beautiful award in recognition of their commitment to their community. And this $200 contribution to the Foundation may come from a club’s service account. Read an appeal from the Governor.
When you award the DSA, CSA or a YSA, you…
- provide scholarships and leadership training to members of our Service Leadership Programs (SLP);
- reduce the number of children killed or seriously injured due to preventable injuries; and
- award grants to Kiwanis and SLP clubs and divisions throughout the District for community service projects.
Distinguished Service Awards
For more than 25 years, Kiwanis clubs have awarded the Distinguished Service Award to recognize, at the District level, Kiwanians who go above and beyond in their service and dedication to their club and community.
Community Service Awards
The Community Service Award is presented to a community member in appreciation “of service rendered to the community.” Many of our past CSA recipients include local business owners and leaders who partnered with their local club on a fundraiser or service project.
Youth Service Awards – NEW!
Our newest award, the Youth Service Award, recognizes those individuals in our clubs, schools, and communities, who dedicate their time fulfilling the Kiwanis mission of making our children safer, empowering their spirit, engaging their potential, and preparing them for beyond. In addition to recognizing club members with the YSA, other recipients might include teachers, coaches or employees of organizations dedicated to children, such as the Boys & Girls Club.
Presentation of Service Awards
A highlight of the Annual Governor’s Visit to each division/region is the presentation of these Service Awards. The Governor makes a very special and personal presentation to each award recipient. And presenting the CSA and YSA during the Governor’s Official Visit offers a unique membership opportunity for your club. Club presidents are encouraged to write a short introduction to be read upon presentation.
History of the Distinguished Service Award
The DSA was established during the 1988-89 administrative year as the “Kiwanian of the Year” Award under Foundation President John Roberto. In 1993, the Kiwanian of the Year Award was renamed the Distinguished Service Award. Learn more
