Thanks in part to a grant from the Cal-Nev-Ha Children’s Fund, 225 children received a free bike helmet after completing a bicycle safety course sponsored by the Poway Kiwanis club. More than 200 children and their families attended the Kiwanis Kids Safety Fair where they were invited to bring their bike in for a free safety check provided by employees of a local bike shop.
The young bicyclists then completed the bike safety training course where they earned their free helmet before moving on to visit seven booths staffed by Key Club, Builders Club and Circle K volunteers who offered materials on various pediatric safety-related topics.
Those completing the safety course and booth visits then were entered into drawings for 12 free bicycles donated by local vendors.
