Imagine sending your kindergartner to school knowing that their playground is located adjacent to a commercial property and separated by an unsightly chain link fence. Next, imagine observing people on the other side of the fence conversing with and passing candy to your child through the fence. This is what teachers at D. W. Babcock Elementary School observed on a regular basis and now thanks to the Kiwanis Club of Greater Sacramento, these scenes are no more.
With a grant from the Cal-Nev-Ha Children’s Fund, the Greater Sacramento Kiwanis club installed privacy screening along the 140’ fence, thereby increasing the safety of the children in the kindergarten area. The improvements to the fence also enhanced the visual appearance of the playground which was met with positive feedback from the school staff. This labor of love concluded with a back-to-school luncheon for the school staff. High five to the Greater Sacramento Kiwanis club for your commitment to children!
