Dear Kiwanis Children’s Fund Donors,
As a proud recipient of the Pete and Dianne Horton Memorial Scholarship, please accept my sincere gratitude for this recognition. I am most proud of my current involvement with Circle K International, and the many friends that I have made, both within my home club, UC San Diego and across the Seaside Division. I am also proud of my previous involvement in Kiwanis family through KIWIN’S and Key Club.
My passion for service led me to continue my journey in the Kiwanis family by joining the UC San Diego chapter of Circle K International and serve as Club Secretary. I also serve on the Circle K District Service Committee, and I serve as the Seaside Division Kiwanis Family Relations Chair.
This scholarship helped to support my educational goals by helping to alleviate the financial burden of college. Receiving this scholarship was an emotionally rewarding moment for me, as it left me with fond memories of the time I have spent in Circle K, and previously spent in Key Club and KIWIN’S. The events I attended, such as supervising my former Key Club’s Officer Training Conference, the many community fairs that I assisted with, and the longstanding tradition of pancake breakfasts have allowed me to volunteer over 30 hours, giving me multiple awards.
While I am not a District Board member, the experience I gained in Kiwanis family has been essential in my daily life. Having a background in Key Club’s bylaws, tradition, and history gave me a solid foundation in UC San Diego Circle K as I handle club functions and activities on a club, division, and district level. The leadership opportunities and experience I gained through UCSD Circle K, the Seaside Division Leadership Team, the Kiwanis Family Relations and Service Committees, and as a Key Club member, and KIWIN’S board member and founder, have given me a strong foundation, confidence, and passion to continue my involvement in serving my community. With the experience I gained through Kiwanis family, I was appointed to a committee in another college organization that serves the student body. My journey through Kiwanis family gave me the foundation to understand the importance of working with others, raising funds to coordinate events, and the importance of rules and regulations to conduct events to ensure the safety of all participants successfully.
My experience in Circle K and Kiwanis family has been life-changing and I want to thank you for giving me this wonderful opportunity to develop and grow through serving my community. I am honored to be recognized as a recipient of the generous and prestigious Pete and Dianne Horton Memorial Scholarship and look forward to giving back to the community in years to come.
