As part of our PTP Partner Hospital Program, the Cal-Nev-Ha Children’s Fund awarded $99,005 in grants to our six Partner Hospitals during the 2019-2020 funding cycle! The first hospital to receive their grant check this year was UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland!
The hospital will use their grant award of $18,000 for their Childhood Injury Prevention Program, which aims to reduce the number of unintentional injuries and fatalities in children through education and by providing equipment to promote safety.
“The Injury Prevention Program serves more than 3,000 children – from newborn to age 14 – each year. The program primarily engages families from Alameda and Contra Costa Counties,” shared Moira Hess, Senior Institutional Giving Officer at Benioff Children’s Hospital Foundation. “The program reflects the core of the hospital’s mission and is a critical complement to our efforts as a Pediatric Level 1 Trauma Center.”
Upon receiving news of their grant approval, Bonnie Lovette, RN, MS, PNP, the Injury Prevention Program Coordinator since 2001, said, “Thank you for this wonderful news. We are so grateful for the long standing partnership we have with Kiwanis!”
While the ongoing pandemic has prevented us from presenting their grant in person, we are honored to continue our support of UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. We look forward to visiting them once it is finally safe!
