After several devastating fires that ravaged California and Nevada in recent years, safety was on the minds of
everyone in the town of Healdsburg. That’s why the Kiwanis Clubs of Healdsburg and Cloverdale partnered with 16 outside organizations to host a Community Safety Fair.
The clubs, along with the Healdsburg Fire Department, California Highway Patrol, and Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition, hosted the safety fair at the community center where activities which centered around family safety were the focus. The clubs’ bicycle rodeo proved to be the highlight of the fair!
With the help of a PTP grant from the Cal-Nev-Ha Children’s Fund, the two clubs were able to serve more than 500 visitors! Nearly 100 bicycle helmets were given to children in need during the bicycle rodeo, and more than 20 bikes were serviced. California Highway Patrol even inspected child safety seats!
“We had a very successful Safety Fair,” shared Susan Sheehy, past club president. “Our hope is that this becomes an annual event because it is beneficial and brings our diverse communities together.”
