Utilizing a matching grant from the Cal-Nev-Ha Children’s Fund, the Spring Valley Kiwanis Club Foundation hosted a series of First Responder/Essential Worker appreciation meals over a four-month period. Club members purchased meals from three local restaurants who were affected by the pandemic and delivered these meals to local sheriff stations, fire stations and to health care workers at the Family Health Center.
The project allowed club members to renew their relationship with the sheriff department and the fire fighters and established a new relationship with the health center. And talks are already underway about a future project between the Spring Valley Kiwanis club and the health center to assist local children and their families!
From pasta dinners to Mexican fare, to baskets of snacks, six club members served meals to a total of 112 first responders and health care workers. Even during a pandemic, the Spring Valley Kiwanis club found a way to continue to serve their community!
