A Word from Patty McInturff, 2026-2027 First Lady

Bike Crash

As a mother, I've seen the results of traumatic injuries to children and I know with our collective effort, these injuries can be prevented.

That's why my focus this year will be to continue to support the Cal-Nev-Ha Children's Fund and their Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP).

Every year, an estimated 8,000 families in the U.S. lose a child to a preventable injury. That's more than 20 families every single day whose lives are forever changed.

Unintentional injury remains the leading cause of death for children under 14 in the U.S. But here’s the hopeful part: 90% of these injuries can be prevented through education, awareness, enforcement, and community outreach. Because injuries are not accidents. They are often predictable - and preventable.

Your gift of $10 to the First Lady’s Focus will be recognized with a commemorative pin depicting my logo, while club gifts of $200 or more to the First Lady’s Focus will be recognized with a banner patch. Of course, donations of any value are treasured and appreciated.

Donations to the Pediatric Trauma Program will make a meaningful difference in safeguarding the lives of children throughout our shared communities:

  • Grants to Partner Hospitals create new programs and make investments in life-saving equipment possible.
  • Life-Saving education and safety projects led by our Kiwanis and Service Leadership Program clubs.
  • Tools and training that provides essential education, resources, and equipment that can reduce preventable injuries and save lives.

With your help, we can reduce the number of heartbreaking scenes that first responders face every day. Please join me in supporting PTP to ensure every child has the protection and care they deserve.

Join me and our CNH Children's Fund in championing a safer, brighter future for all children across California, Nevada, and Hawaii.

Thank you,

Patty McInturff
