Donors who make a charitable bequest of at least $1,000 through their estate plans are enrolled in our Legacy Fellowship program. These commitments enable individuals to make gifts that may not have been possible during their lifetimes.

Legacy Fellowship members receive an exquisitely framed certificate and a lapel pin, recognition in donor publications and invitations to special events.

Why Leave a Legacy?

Each of us can recall a time when we have been personally and positively touched through the caring contributions of others.

Many Kiwanians give both their money and time to worthy causes; however, many of us are unaware that by making a gift in our will or trust we can continue to help people in need or to promote a favorite cause long after we are gone.

Gifts Through Your Estate

Bequests can take several forms:

  • Specific bequest — Gives the Cal-Nev-Ha Children’s Fund a specific piece of property: “I give 500 shares of stock.”
  • Residual bequest — Designates all or a portion of whatever remains after all debts, taxes, and expenses have been paid: “I give 50 percent of the next residue and remainder of my estate.”
  • Contingent bequest — Takes effect only under certain conditions: “In the event that my spouse does not survive me, I give to the Cal-Nev-Ha Children’s Fund, a California not-for-profit corporation, the sum of . . .”
