The Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation was formed more than fifty years ago in response to major flooding in Klamath. What started as a means to address disaster relief soon evolved into an organization addressing the needs of children. While the Foundation still provides disaster relief assistance to our Kiwanis family, understanding that “Kids Need Kiwanis,” the Foundation’s focus is now on children. Over the years, the Foundation has touched many kids, far more than we ever could count. I am sure it is in the tens of thousands.
Twenty-five years ago, understanding that kids need to live in a safe environment, free of pain and injury, our Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP) was adopted as the major emphasis of both the Cal-Nev-Ha District of Kiwanis and the Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation. We have the means to address pediatric trauma, which studies indicate is 90% preventable, by providing grants to our Partner Hospitals and Kiwanis clubs.
While Pediatric Trauma Prevention is our main focus, we have not forgotten our responsibility to developing future leaders. Along with scholarships, allowing high school and college students to further their education, the Foundation provides financial support for the training of Key Club, KIWIN’s and Circle K leaders.
For more than 100 years, our Kiwanis clubs have been addressing the needs of communities. Sometimes, our clubs need a little help in funding their projects. Club and PTP grants from the Foundation provide the help.
None of the above can be accomplished without your financial support. Check out the “How to Help” tab on the website. Whether it’s contributing to “Champions for Children” or honoring someone with a “Distinguish Service Award” or a “William A. Dunlap Fellowship,” your generous donations will ensure our ability to impact lives of children throughout our District.
“Kids need Kiwanis!” The Foundation needs you!
